Around Golf Del Sur

This page is about Golf Del Sur Tenerife and is a short guide to the area.

There are no touts in Golf del Sur, nor any night time noise from nightclubs or bars etc. In the local regulations (which are enforced) require all outside entertainment to be finished by midnight and all entertainment to be inside.

The Golf del Sur resort, generally referred to as "the Golf" is very different in comparison to the resorts of Los Cristianos and Las Americas. Situated on the coast by the Atlantic Ocean, it has a tranquil, laid back village like atmosphere. It is just a short drive away from the airport. By name it is home to one of Tenerife's premier championship golf courses - so it is a big favourite with golfers and due to the various holiday facilities, it now has many more holidaymakers than golfers.

The Golf one of the prettiest areas in South Tenerife. The avenues of Golf Del Sur are lined with flowering plants and sub-tropical palm trees and as you enter the resort, you notice the greenness of the golf fairways contrasting beautifully with the arid landscape of the rest of the South of the island.

Only in the last few years has the 'the Golf' become more known to the tourist, though many still have yet to hear of it, this does not mean though it lacks facilities. Within "the Golf” you will find everything a holiday maker needs for a memorable holiday and with it being only a small resort everything is only a short walk away!

Golf del Sur is ideal for couples who just want a relaxing holiday or for families who don't want the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts.  Being just 5 minutes drive from Tenerife's main motorway (the TF1) it is the ideal base for those wanting to explore the delights of Mount Teide and the rest of the island. With it’s 27 hole championship golf course, it is a real 'golfers paradise'.

The world renowned Winter Gardens complex has a wonderful spa centre with various whirlpools and Jacuzzi's as well as being home to the Tenerife International Bowling Stadium - acknowledged as one of the best bowling venues in the world.

The 'San Blas Centre' is the central point for evening entertainment with live cabaret acts and music to entertain you along with plenty of high quality restaurants, bars and shops.  There are also various other bars and restaurants all around the resort catering for different tastes.  A 30 minute walk (or 5 minutes in a taxi for those not so energetic!) is the local village of Los Abrigos where you will find a lovely harbour full of some of the best fresh fish restaurants on the island.

Of course for the odd livelier night out, the resorts of Las Americas and Los Cristianos are still only 15 minutes drive away.

The promenade to the new marina between Golf Del Sur and Amarilla Golf has seen some lovely new sea front restaurants open up, which are great settings for an evening meal overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. There is certainly an air of exclusivity about Golf Del Sur and that once visited once, many return time and time again.

The San Blas Centre
The San Blas Commercial Centre is one Golf Del Sur's gems. It is a combination of Shops, Supermarket, Bank, Chemist, Bars, Restaurants, hairdressers, School, Nightclub and a Church.   The Sand Club is conveniently located only 4 minutes walk away. There are Restaurants and bars a plenty. But this is not the noisy - lager fueled environment  found in the Veronicas & the Patch area of Las Americas.  It is family orientated  - with free entertainment put on every evening in the top & bottom squares in the centre.

For those of you whose Spanish is not very good or non existent - do not worry as many of the local Bars and Restaurants are British owned or the staff speak very good English.  However, the occasional - gracias and por favor - helps to cement international relations.

Shops in include a well stocked supermarket, Spanish Style - great for duty free alcohol & tobacco - it even takes UK pounds. Various Gift & Perfume Shops.  There are also car hire shops, & Internet cafe/Telecommunications Centre.

If you have not been to Tenerife before do not buy any "Duty Free" goods on theThe Church in the San Blas Centre way out or on the aircraft - prices are much cheaper in Tenerife.

Some of the businesses in the San Blas Centre are covered below - but there are many so please do not take it as an exhaustive list.
